Use:
1. Used as polarographic analysis reagent, and also used in organic synthesis.
2. Tetrabutyl ammonium bromide is also an effective phase transfer catalyst.
Phase transfer catalyst, PTC for short, is a catalyst that can transfer the reactants in the water phase (or organic phase) to the organic phase (or water phase), that is, a catalyst that can make the reaction between the two phases. PTC has the properties of changing the solvation degree of ions, increasing the reactivity of ions and accelerating the reaction speed. It solves the problem that reactants in two phases are difficult to react in the past.
Phase transfer catalysts are widely used in organic synthesis: they are used to prepare R2C compounds (carbene compounds), and further to prepare corresponding nitriles, isocyanides, haloalkanes, dichlorocyclopropane derivatives, hydroxycarboxylic acids and diazomethane. Compared with the traditional method, it can avoid harsh conditions such as anhydrous operation and has high product yield. It can also be used in redox reaction, ester hydrolysis, cyanohalide ion replacement reaction, condensation reaction, addition reaction, polymerization reaction, cycloaddition reaction of carbene and elimination reaction.
